Political : ABIA WOMEN SPRING UP FOR DR ALEX OTTI

2015 Guber: Abia Women Rally Support for Otti

Ahead of the APRIL 11 general elections Abia women have concluded arrangement to organise a one million- man march for the purpose of rallying support for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship aspirant and former Managing Director/CEO of Diamond Bank, Dr Alex Otti.

At a pre-event rally held at the premises of the Hotel de La Paiz in Aba , the women operating under the aegis of Abia Women for Dr Alex Otti, expressed their determination to mobilize for the emergence of the banking icon as the next governor of the state 11th April this year.

Convener of the group and Africa Handball legend, Mrs Oluchi Ogwo, said while addressing the women from 17 Local Governments in the state that it was high time Abia women play active role in choosing a credible candidate that will lead the state out of doldrums and point in the direction of development in the state.

She explained that her group was desirous of change at the helm of affairs in the state because Abia had lagged dangerously behind for too long in the provision of dividends of democracy to the greatest population of Abians on account of lack of purposeful leadership.
According to her Abia is currently labelled the worst state in the country by its friends and guests because of the prevalence of high rate of decadence in infrastructure, education, health, security, commerce and industry among other necessities in the state.

‘’Aba is dead. Abia is not in good condition and majority of the state population reel under severe predicaments of life and yet we have government in place,’’ she lamented, alleging that succession at the highest office in the state by anointed stooges had failed Abia people and therefore, it should not be supported.

The woman leader further explained that her group’s endorsement of Dr Otti was informed by its conviction that the APGA aspirant possesses the requisite capacity and enduring transformational agenda necessary for qualitative leadership that would usher in new and improved Abia.

To buttress her point, the illustrious daughter of Abia remarked that in unveiling his intentions for Abia, Dr Otti had reiterated his commitment to allocate 50 percent of his cabinet membership to Abia women just as she reminded her group that the First Class Economist had pledged to give their children free education at all levels and also provide job opportunities for the teeming youth in the state.
Other reasons enumerated by Mrs Ogwo for her group’s support for the APGA governorship aspirant include; Dr Otti’s demonstration of genuine love and sacrifice for his state which she noted is manifested in his resignation of his plum job at Diamond Bank to offer himself for the service of his people adding that the APGA governorship aspirant had pledged to embark on construction of roads across Abia on massive scale.

The sports legend also pointed to Dr Otti’s antecedents as a successful manager of people and resources, a man of ideas who turned the fortunes of Diamond Bank around in record time and a man who possesses a wide network of linkages at both national and international spheres as some of the reasons why her group is backing him.

While reassuring that votes must count in 2015 elections, Mrs Ogwo however, enjoined Abia women to jettison fear and stand up for the truth at all times because by so doing, they would have unknown to them started the journey towards emancipation of the people of Abia from many years of locust and canker worm infestation.

The woman leader hinted that her group was in Aba for a sensitization rally ahead of the planned one million- man match slated for a date to be announced later for the purpose of mobilizing for APGA governorship aspirant in the state.
