The
creation of the Artists' village has not only turned out to be
Visionary but also one of the most significant in the history of Arts
administration and Management in the Nigerian Public Sector in the Last
30years.The Artists' Village represents the first and only community of
Creative entrepreneurs anywhere in the West African Coast.
The
Artists' Village comprises: Practitioners,Guilds/Associations and Arts
Organizations in all Arts forms and across all Media. There is no gain
saying the fact that no major cultural or Artistic event both home and
abroad in the last Ten years has taken place without the involvement and
input of one or more professional organizations from the Artists'
Village. So why SCRAP the Artists' Village?The print,Electronic and the
social media had been agog with reports of the sale/concessionaire of
the fallow grounds around the National Theater. Although,our position is
that the concessionaire is not good for the Arts and Culture,We think
the Government should at least build on the efforts of the Practitioners
in the last last 20years by upgrading and developing infrastructures
that will help to fulfill the Originally stated Objectives of the
federal Government of developing the Arts and Culture sector in Nigeria.
Nipponcy Richard speaking to some artist and creative personalities earlier today,
this is what they have to tell the public:
this is what they have to tell the public:
ABRAHAM OSAJIE(CEO Street Storm Concept):
" That's our country for you
bro,many of the so called stars today
one way or the other passed through the
Artists' village yet they will keep quiet
when clueless people like(Chief Edem Duke
and Mallam Kabiru) who don't know that the
Arts and Culture is bigger and more rooted
than Entertainment,comment or say all sort of
lies about the Artist village.I sorry for you who
decides to burn bridges that you went through to
get to stardom or limelight,you forget you might need to come back
someday.Abi make we begin mention names?"
MC RICHARD(Comedian):
" The truth be told what
ever goes on in the National Theater
is prepared from the Artist Village and
why does the government want to take youths
that are there back into
(street life,joblessness,crime etc)
we truly need a CHANGE"
JUSTIN EZIRIM(CEO Justdance Venture):
"Some people will read this and feel less
concern....yet they run to National Council for Arts and Culture
concern....yet they run to National Council for Arts and Culture
(NCAC) artists village to save them from one event to another.
